Shakuntala by Raja Ravi Varma

'Shakuntala looking for Dushyanta' is an epic painting by celebrated Indian painter, Raja Ravi Varma. His works brought together the Indian Ethos with European techniques.

In this painting, Shakuntala's friends are smiling at her, because she is pretending to remove a thorn while actually looking for her lover - Dushyantha.

The Raja Ravi Varma Heritage Foundation is dedicated to preserve his legacy.

His most famous works can be viewed at Google Art & Culture initiative.
